Mickey Welch completed the game without help from the bullpen at Baseball
Grounds where the New York Giants beat the Philadelphia Quakers 3 to
2.

Welch(10-7) gave a fine effort for New York.  He went 9 innings surrendering 6
hits and 4 walks.  Philadelphia threatened in the 9th but New York was able
to put down the rally.  

Charlie Buffinton(10-7) was the loser.  'Some losses are harder to take than
others' Harry Wright lamented after the game.  'This was one of them.'
