The Chicago-NL Cubs nipped the St. Louis-AL Browns in 10 innings 7 to 6 at
West Side Park in a hard fought contest.

The score was tied at 6 after nine.  Chicago-NL won the game in the 10th
inning.  After an out was recorded, Dan McGann reached on an error.  Lave
Cross next to the plate and he reached on an error.  Jimmy Williams then
stroked a one-base hit resulting in an exciting win for Chicago-NL and a wild
post-game celebration by the home town fans.  St. Louis-AL had 13 hits in the
game while Chicago-NL had 6, but Chicago-NL had the more timely hits.  

Big Jeff Pfeffer(6-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and
allowing no runs. Beany Jacobson(0-1) was charged with the loss in relief.
He was a hard-luck loser as he did not allow an earned run in his 2 and 1/3
innings of work.
