Frank Laporte had 4 hits and scored 4 times at Palace of the Fans where the
Washington Nationals beat the Cincinnati Reds in 13 innings 8 to 7.

Both teams had scored 7 runs after nine full innings.  Washington came out the
victor in the 13th inning.  After an out was recorded, Laporte stroked a
base-hit.  Roger Bresnahan came to the plate and hit a single.  Freddy Parent
then delivered a single to load the bases.  Bill Coughlin followed and he
banged out a one-base hit scoring the run.  Washington kept the scorekeepers
busy in the 8th inning when they had 3 runs on 4 hits.  Washington finished
with 23 hits while Cincinnati ended up with 17.  

The victory was credited to Jack Coombs(4-3) who went 7 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 1 run. The losing pitcher was Buster Brown(1-3) in relief.  He
surrendered 6 hits and 1 walk in 2 innings.
