Red Ames pitched 3 strong innings as the Cincinnati Reds bested the Boston-AL
Red Sox in 14 innings 3 to 2 at Huntington Ave Grnds.

The score was tied at 2 after nine.  Cincinnati came out the victor in the
14th inning.  After an out was recorded, John Titus drew a walk.  Titus got a
good lead and stole second.  Larry McLean then reached on an error.  Joe
Tinker came up and he slapped a base-hit scoring the run.  Boston-AL out-hit
Cincinnati 10 to 7, but Cincinnati ended up with more runs.  

The winning pitcher was Ames(5-3) who allowed no runs in 3 innings. Babe Adams
got the save, his 17th.  The loss was charged to Walter Johnson(14-5) in
relief.  He was a hard-luck loser as he did not allow an earned run in his 6
innings of work.
