In a dramatic ending the Detroit Tigers staged a comeback and held on to win
over the Cleveland Naps by the count of 9 to 8.
Detroit had the game winning rally in the 9th inning as they scored 4 runs on
4 base hits. The key at-bat was by Ossie Vitt who helped quiet the crowd
when he tripled scoring two baserunners. Detroit finished with 15 hits in
the victory.
Joe Lake(6-5) allowed 5 runs in 2 innings, and picked up the victory. Harry
Moran earned the save, his 1st. Willie Mitchell(3-4) took the loss in
relief.
'We just kept swinging the bats and didn't give up,' Vitt said. 'If you just
keep trying good things can happen!'
