Carl Erskine allowed Gordy Renaud to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
and first baseman Joe Adcock left the yard as the Washington Nationals bested
the Brooklyn Dodgers 5 to 2 at Ebbets Field.

Washington took the lead for keeps in the 3rd inning as they scored 2 runs on
2 base hits. That scoring would be all that was needed. Both teams ended up
with 7 hits on the night.

The win went to Erskine(5-3) who allowed 2 runs in the game. Dean Stone(1-3)
absorbed the loss. He gave up 5 runs and 7 hits in 7 innings.
