Deacon Phillippe allowed Bart Ewing to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete
game at American League Park as the Washington Senators staged a comeback win
over the Detroit Tigers by the count of 3 to 2.

Washington had the winning rally in the 9th inning with 2 runs.  Danny Green
led off and he drew a walk.  Charlie Hickman followed and he delivered a
single, and an error was also committed.  Ed Delahanty then drew a walk to
load the bases.  Candy Lachance stepped in and he reached on an error plating
a run.  Roger Bresnahan came up to bat and reached on an error making
Washington the winners and sending the 5,301 fans home happy.  The teams had
been locked in a scoreless duel until the 7th inning.  

The win was credited to Phillippe(10-3) who went the whole way allowing 2
runs. Red Ames(0-1) suffered the loss in relief.  He surrendered 2 runs and 1
hit without retiring a batter.
