Jack Chesbro completed the game without help from the bullpen at West Side
Park where the Chicago-NL Cubs beat the Washington Nationals by the score of
3 to 1.

Chicago-NL came up with 2 runs in the 4th inning with the help of 3 hits.
Terry Turner led off and keyed the rally when he hit a single.  Jimmy
Williams followed and he laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Shad Barry then ripped
a single driving in a run.  Barry took his lead and swiped second.  Lave
Cross came to the plate and tripled scoring the final run of the inning.
Chicago-NL had 9 hits for the afternoon.  

The victory was credited to Chesbro(5-7) who went the distance, allowing 1
run. Bob Ewing(5-5) was the loser.  He pitched 8 innings giving up 9 hits and
1 walk.
