King Cole allowed Frank Chance to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
and right fielder Frank Schulte had 4 hits and 5 RBI as the Chicago Cubs
really laid it on the St. Louis Cardinals 17 to 3.

Schulte led the offense for Chicago. He laced a base-hit in the 1st inning,
lashed a single bringing in two baserunners in the 2nd inning, cracked a
two-run shot in the 3rd inning and slapped a one-base hit knocking in a run
in the 8th inning. Chicago lit up the scoreboard in the 2nd inning with 5
runs on 3 hits and the 3rd inning scoring 4 runs. The Chicago offense
smacked the St. Louis pitching staff around, scoring in 7 of the 9 innings.

Cole(5-3) lasted until the end allowing 3 runs for the win. The losing pitcher
was Slim Sallee(7-8). He got hammered, allowing 15 hits and 5 walks in 9
innings.

'I didn't feel that good when I came to the park today,' Schulte said. 'I'm
glad I decided to play!'
