Hooks Wiltse was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game as the blistering-hot New York Giants defeated the floundering
Boston Braves in 13 innings by the score of 2 to 1 at Polo Grounds.

The score was tied at 1 after nine. New York ended up winning it in the 13th
inning. Wiltse laced a base-knock. Fred Snodgrass next to the plate and he
reached on an error. Two outs later Red Murray came to the plate and was
walked intentionally to load the bases. Otto Hess then unleashed a wild
pitch resulting in a mighty exciting win for New York and the 4,486 home town
fans in attendance. New York won despite being out-hit by Boston 11 hits to
8.

Wiltse(3-2) got the victory, allowing 1 run for the game. Hess(3-9) suffered
the loss. He pitched 12 and 2/3 innings allowing only 8 hits and 2
walks.

New York won for the 9th straight time. John McGraw was thrilled following the
game -- 'We're really on a roll now. These guys are playing their hearts out
and I couldn't be happier for them!'
