In a wild and wooly game at Baker Bowl, the Brooklyn Robins finally topped the
Philadelphia Phillies by the score of 12 to 10 in.
Brooklyn had the game winning rally in the 8th inning scoring 2 runs. Hy
Myers led off and got things going when he reached on an error. Myers then
stole second base. After an out was recorded, Jake Daubert then drew a walk.
Zack Wheat stepped in and he banged out a single resulting in a run. Wheat
took second on the throw. One out later, Joe Oeschger then threw a wild
pitch scoring the final run of the inning. Philadelphia had a chance in the
9th but they came up short.
The win went to Sherry Smith(4-3) who allowed 10 runs in 8 innings. Phil
Douglas was credited with his 1st save. Eppa Rixey(0-5) was the losing
pitcher. He was hit hard and gave up 14 hits and 5 walks in 7 and 1/3
innings.
'It wasn't my best outing, but I'll take the win' Smith said.
