Bill Donovan held St. Louis to 2 hits at Washington Park where the Brooklyn
Superbas beat the St. Louis Cardinals by the score of 5 to 1.

Brooklyn promptly took the lead in their half of the first with 2 runs. Joe
Kelley led off and he reached on an error. After an out was recorded, Jimmy
Sheckard stepped in and he reached on an error. Tom Daly then stroked a
single which scored a run. One out later, Cozy Dolan stepped in and he
reached on an error scoring the final run of the inning. That was all
Donovan(6-8) needed. Brooklyn finished with 7 hits in the victory.

Jack Powell(8-8) ended up with the loss. Ned Hanlon was asked about the
performance of Donovan, 'He had his good stuff out there this afternoon. The
fans really get into it when the strikeouts start mounting up - and that
seems to give him even more adrenalin.'
