The Boston-NL Braves defeated the slumping Washington Nationals by a score of
8 to 5 at South End Grounds.

Boston-NL drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning as
they scored 3 runs on 3 base hits. The key offensive moment was provided by
Jake Daubert who brought a roar from the partisan South End Grounds fans when
he clubbed a two-run home run. Washington threatened in the 9th but their
rally came up short.

Frank Smith(4-1) was the winner allowing 5 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings. Smith
got help from Rube Waddell who was credited with his 3rd save. Bob
Ewing(4-5) was the losing pitcher. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 10 hits
and 2 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.
