TEAM RISP- Cubs: 6 for 15 Nationals: 1 for 6

Catcher Chief Meyers had 3 base hits and 2 RBI at American League Park as the
Chicago-NL Cubs pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the Washington
Nationals by the count of 7 to 5.

Chicago-NL scored the winning runs in the top of the 9th inning scoring 5
runners on 4 hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Meyers who silenced
the crowd when he laced a base-knock scoring two baserunners. Russ Ford was
perfect in relief and gained credit for his 7th save.

Frank Lange(2-1) went 2/3 of an inning allowing 1 run for the victory. Gene
Krapp(3-4) was the loser in relief. Gordon Renaud was not very talkative
after his team's tough loss. 'I'm not in the mood for questions, but I'm
sure Lee Palmer will be glad to talk about the game as long as you have
questions to ask.'
