Larry Gardner had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Nap Rucker pitched a 3 hit shutout
at Bennett Park where the New York-NL Giants beat the woeful Detroit Tigers 5
to 0.

Rucker(5-7) was on top of his game.  He didn't give up much, just 3 hits and
no walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA to 3.76.  New York-NL managed 8 hits
in their victory.  

Elmer Knetzer(4-8) was the losing pitcher.  'Rucker was the man today,' Brian
Capsello said.  'He had just about every pitch working.'
