Sam Jethroe lofted one into the 'cheap seats' as the Cincinnati Reds defeated
the Boston-AL Red Sox by the score of 5 to 2 at Fenway Park.
Boston-AL was unable to recover after Cincinnati went ahead in the top of the
3rd inning plating one baserunner using 2 hits. Jethroe doubled. After an
out was recorded, Mike McCormick came up and he would ground out scoring the
run. Boston-AL threatened in the 9th but Cincinnati was able to put down the
rally.
The victory was credited to Ken Raffensberger(3-4) who went 8 innings,
allowing 2 runs. Russ Meyer got the save, his 3rd. The loss was charged to
Mickey McDermott(4-3).
'It's a disheartening loss, no question about it' said Allan Kaufman 'But we
have to get over it and get ready for the next game.'
