Right fielder Jim Fogarty had 4 hits and Dan Casey threw a 3 hitter at Recreation Park where the Philadelphia Quakers beat the Detroit Wolverines 9 to 2. Detroit never recovered after Philadelphia took the lead in the top of the 3rd inning scoring 3 runs on 3 hits. After an out was recorded, Casey began the rally when he laced a base-hit. George Wood stepped up next and he drew a walk. Ed Andrews then laced a single bringing in a run. Harry Wright then called for a steal which was successful scoring another baseruner. Fogarty stepped into the box and doubled scoring the final run of the inning. That early scoring was all that Casey(6-10) needed. Philadelphia totaled 13 hits on the afternoon. Lady Baldwin(6-5) absorbed the loss. He was unable to control the Philadelphia offense and allowed 13 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings. Casey was obviously very pleased with his performance in the aftermath of the game, 'It was just one of those games where everything worked. My arm felt great, heck, I could have pitched another two or three innings. I only hope that I can do it again next time out!'
