Left fielder Spud Johnson smacked 2 triples and had 3 RBI as the Columbus
Solons defeated the Syracuse Stars by the score of 16 to 14 at Recreation
Park.

The Columbus fans enjoyed the offense provided by Johnson.  He tripled scoring
two baserunners in the 1st inning and tripled bringing in a run in the 7th
inning.  Columbus lit up the scoreboard in the 1st inning tallying 5 runs and
the 8th inning plating 4 runs.  This was a game of many highs and lows for
the home town fans, as the lead kept changing - 7 times in all.  

Wild Bill Widner(3-7) allowed 4 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Ice Box Chamberlain recorded his 1st save.  Mike Morrison(3-6) was
the loser in relief.  By surrending 11 runs in 7 innings his ERA jumped from
3.72 to 4.40.
