WEB GEMS- Bot 3rd: Herb Score robbed Al Rosen of a base hit.

At Yankee Stadium, the New York-AL faithful were treated to an intriguing
pitcher's duel. Jim Wilson(4-7) finally bested his Pittsburgh counterpart,
Herb Score(2-5), by the score of 1 to 0.

New York-AL wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning plating one
baserunner on 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Vic Power smashed a
bases-empty 'big-fly'. That was all the offense they were to need.
Pittsburgh threatened in the 9th but New York-AL was able to put down the
rally.

Wilson got help from George Zuverink who was credited with his 4th save.
Score took the loss. While he was the losing pitcher, he still struck out 12
batters in 8 innings.
