The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance provided by Leonard. He ripped a base-knock in the 1st inning, stroked a single bringing in two baserunners in the 7th inning and tripled which was good for two runs in the 8th inning. Boston bats were hot in the 7th inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 3 hits. The Boston offense poured it on, scoring in 7 of the 9 innings. The victory was credited to Spalding(19-1) who went the distance, allowing 4 runs. The losing pitcher was Al Pratt(3-5). He got hit pretty hard, allowing 17 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings. Boston continued their winning ways, seemingly unable to lose during this stretch. 'We've really come alive lately,' Wright said. 'We won some tough games and I feel real good about this ballclub right now, and hopefully we'll continue the roll we're on.'
