Sam Gillen hit 2 doubles and had 4 RBI and Jack Taylor pitched a complete game
at Baker Bowl as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the struggling Brooklyn
Bridegrooms by the count of 18 to 11.
The Philadelphia fans enjoyed the offense provided by Gillen. He doubled
which scored a run in the 2nd inning, laced a one-base hit in the 3rd inning
and doubled with all three baserunners touching home in the 7th inning.
Philadelphia provided plenty of action in the 3rd inning which saw them score
5 runs on 3 hits and the 7th inning which saw them plate 7 runs on 6 hits.
Despite scoring in 7 separate innings, Brooklyn could not get the win.
Taylor(8-8) got the victory, allowing 11 runs for the game. Dan Daub(10-9)
took the loss. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 20 hits and 5
walks in 7 innings.
