Claude Ritchey had 3 base hits and 3 RBI and Deacon Phillippe pitched a
complete game at Exposition Park as the mighty Pittsburgh Pirates beat the
Cincinnati Reds in 11 innings by the count of 9 to 8.

The score was tied at 8 after nine. Pittsburgh won the hard fought contest in
the 11th inning. After an out was recorded, Ginger Beaumont delivered a
one-base hit. Honus Wagner was next to the plate, but was promptly struck
out. Beaumont then stole second base. Kitty Bransfield followed and he was
walked intentionally. Ritchey came up to bat and ripped a single giving
Pittsburgh the victory and sending the 4,443 home-town fans home happy. The
game was a wild affair with the lead changing hands 5 times.

Phillippe(9-3) finished the game allowing 8 runs in the victory. The loss was
charged to Clarence Currie(2-4) in relief. He pitched 3 and 2/3 innings and
surrendered 4 hits and 1 walk.
