Steve Evans had 2 base hits and Bob Harmon completed the game without help
from the bullpen as the St. Louis Cardinals bested the Pittsburgh Pirates in
11 innings 6 to 5 at League Park.

Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings.  St. Louis ended up
winning it in the 11th inning.  Evans singled.  Mike Mowrey stepped up next
and he lined a base-hit.  Rebel Oakes then worked the squeeze play to
perfection giving St. Louis the win as 13,122 happy fans joyfully celebrated.
St. Louis managed 11 hits in their victory.  

The victory was credited to Harmon(8-9) who went the distance, allowing 5
runs. Lefty Leifield(10-6) was given the loss.  St. Louis now has a record of
34-32.  With the loss, the Pittsburgh ballclub's record is 38-27.
