WEB GEMS- Top 4th: Larry Doyle robbed Frank O'Rourke of a base hit.

Fred Merkle slammed a homerun and had 4 RBI and Jeff Tesreau pitched a
complete game as the smoking-hot New York Giants really laid it on the
floundering Boston Braves 12 to 2.

Merkle made sure the New York fans enjoyed themselves. He hit a single which
was good for two runs in the 4th inning, stroked a base-hit in the 6th inning
and cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 8th inning. New York
finished with 11 hits in the victory.

Tesreau(4-2) allowed 2 runs on the game. The losing pitcher was Lefty
Tyler(0-11). His ERA increased from 5.77 to 6.17 as he allowed 9 runs in 6
innings.

New York continued their winning ways, seemingly unable to lose during this
stretch. Johnny Kling was upset but philosophical about the loss. 'Sometimes
you run into a team that's on a roll. This was one of those times.'
