Walter Johnson completed the game without help from the bullpen as the
Boston-AL Red Sox bested the St. Louis-AL Browns 8 to 6 at Sportsman'S
Park.

Boston-AL took the lead for good in the top of the 3rd inning scoring a single
run. After an out was recorded, Max Carey single-handedly provided the
offense with a solo home run. St. Louis-AL had a chance in the 9th but they
came up short.

Johnson(17-3) finished the game allowing 6 runs in the victory. Rube
Marquard(9-9) absorbed the loss. He was touched for 8 hits and 3 walks in 5
innings.

When questioned about the loss, Tim Singer said, 'The fans got to see an
exciting game out there this afternoon. Unfortunately, we couldn't get it
done this time. Next time, though, we'll be the clubhouse with all the
smiles.'
