Joe Dimaggio lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and scored 3 times and Hal
Newhouser allowed Gordy Renaud to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
at Sportsman's Park where the seemingly unstoppable Washington Nationals beat
the St. Louis Cardinals by the score of 9 to 2.

The game started off with Washington taking the lead in the first when they
scored 4 runs on 4 hits. That early scoring was all that Newhouser(9-5)
needed. Washington finished with 13 hits in the victory.

Vic Raschi(7-8) was the loser. He allowed 10 hits and 3 walks in 4 and 2/3
innings.
