Cincinnati scored the deciding run in the 9th inning. Wally Moses lined a one-base hit. Jackie Robinson followed and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Enos Slaughter then was walked intentionally. Bob Elliott followed, but he was set down on strikes. Harry Walker came up to bat and delivered a single giving Cincinnati the win as 16,027 happy fans joyfully celebrated. Cincinnati had 10 hits for the night. Satchel Paige(3-1) went 1/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the win. Bob Lemon(10-5) was the loser in relief.
