Bobby Doerr was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided much of the offense for the visitors. He rifled a three-run blast in the 5th inning, banged out a single in the 7th inning and hit a one-base hit resulting in a run in the 7th inning. Washington bats were very productive in the 5th inning tallying 5 runs and the 7th inning which saw them score 6 runs on 5 hits. Washington dominated offensively as they scored in 6 different innings. Lively earned the save, his 7th. Mickey McDermott(1-3) was hit with the loss. Washington scored big getting 8 runs off him in 5 innings.
