Robin Roberts pitched a complete game at Griffith Stadium as the New York-AL
Yankees beat the Washington Nationals by the count of 2 to 1.

The deciding run was scored by New York-AL in the 8th.  After two were out
Ralph Kiner delivered a solo blast.  Washington could do no damage in the
bottom of the 9th.  

Roberts(6-7) lasted until the end allowing 1 run for the win. Bob Feller(8-8)
was tagged with the loss.  He pitched 7 and 2/3 innings and surrendered 8
hits and 2 walks.
