The Philadelphia-NL Phillies cruised to a 11 to 1 victory over the Washington
Nationals at Griffith Stadium.

Stan Musial enjoyed a big evening at the plate.  He banged out a single in the
3rd inning, tripled which scored a run in the 7th inning and popped a two-run
clout over the fence in the 8th inning.  Philadelphia-NL had 13 hits for the
night while Washington had 7.  

The victory was credited to Bobby Shantz(6-5) who went 2/3 of an inning,
allowing no runs. Murry Dickson(3-6) was the losing pitcher.  He allowed 8
hits and 7 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.
