36,791 fans were treated to a fine game at Wrigely Field as only one run

slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.

Chicago-NL took the lead for good in the 7th inning plating an isolated run.
New York-AL made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the
needed runs across.

Whitey Ford(12-5) was the winner allowing 4 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings. Sid
Hudson recorded his 1st save. Mel Parnell(5-6) absorbed the loss. 'It's a
disheartening loss, no question about it' said Robert Baker 'But we have to
get over it and get ready for the next game.'
