The key at-bat was by Hodges who quieted the crowd when he stroked a one-base hit plating two runs. Fritz Dorish, after tossing a perfect ninth, was credited with his 3rd save. Lew Burdette(9-7) went 8 innings allowing 4 runs for the victory. Ernie Johnson(3-3) was the losing pitcher in relief. 'The only way this one could have been better', said Burdette, 'was if we had played it at home.'
