WEB GEMS- Top 4th: Danny O'Connell robbed Gil Hodges of a base hit.

First baseman Gil Hodges hit 2 doubles and had 2 RBI as the Kansas City
Athletics topped the slumping Brooklyn Dodgers by a score of 7 to 5 at Ebbets
Field.

In the 6th inning Kansas City scored 5 runs when they had 7 base hits. The
crucial at-bat was provided by Mickey Mantle who silenced the crowd when he
cleared the fences for a two-run home run. Kansas City had 13 hits overall,
while Brooklyn had 5.

Camilo Pascual(3-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 5 runs. Pascual got relief help from Marv Grissom who gained credit
for his 14th save. Bobby Shantz(3-6) ended up with the loss. He was knocked
around pretty good, giving up 6 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings.
