Ad Gumbert was able to finish what he started and was credited with a complete
game as the Boston Reds defeated the Pittsburg Burghers by the score of 7 to
1 at Exposition Park.

Pittsburg never recovered after Boston took the lead in the 2nd inning plating
one baserunner.  Dan Brouthers reached on an error.  King Kelly stepped up
next and he would hit into a fielders choice scoring the run.  Boston totaled
9 hits on the afternoon.  

Gumbert(5-3), allowing 1 run for the game, picked up the victory. Pud
Galvin(7-9) was the losing pitcher.  He allowed 7 runs and 9 hits in 9
innings.
