Dave Brain lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 2 RBI and Chappie
McFarland allowed St. Louis' manager to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete
game at Robison Field as the Chicago Cubs lost a heartbreaker to St. Louis
Cardinals by the score of 4 to 3.

The game was won by St. Louis with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning.
Mike Grady delivered a one-base hit.  After an out was recorded, Jimmy Burke
came up and he ripped a single.  Burke took second on the throw.  One out
later, Josh Clarke then laced a base-hit giving St. Louis the victory and
sending the 4,231 home-town fans home happy.  St. Louis finished with 9 hits
in the victory.  

McFarland(6-5) finished the game allowing 3 runs in the victory. Mordecai
Brown(8-4) was the loser in relief.  He gave up 3 hits and no walks in 2/3 of
an inning.
