WEB GEMS- Top 8th: Tommy Leach robbed Pug Bennett of an extra base hit.

In a one-sided affair the Pittsburgh Pirates batters pounded the St. Louis
Cardinals pitchers for 9 runs while Howie Camnitz(3-1), with relief help from
Mike Lynch, whitewashed St. Louis.

Pittsburgh promptly took the lead in their half of the first scoring a single
run. Goat Anderson drew a walk. Tommy Leach stepped up next and he slapped
a single. After an out was recorded, Honus Wagner then would hit into a
force play scoring the run. That early run support was enough for Camnitz
and Pittsburgh. Overall Pittsburgh out-hit St. Louis 11 to 6.

Fred Beebe(4-15) took the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 10 hits and 5 walks
in 7 innings.
