Larry Doyle blasted 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Smoky Joe Wood tossed a
complete game as the Washington Nationals outscored the Boston-NL Braves 13
to 5.

Doyle enjoyed a big day at the plate.  He clubbed a two-run home run in the
1st inning, tripled in the 3rd inning, laced a base-hit in the 4th inning and
blasted a two-run home run in the 7th inning.  Washington lit up the
scoreboard in the 5th inning with 5 runs on 4 hits.  Washington banged out 20
hits on the afternoon.  

The win was credited to Wood(10-7) who went the whole way allowing 5 runs. Cy
Barger(9-7) suffered the loss.  He was not very effective, surrendering 5
runs in 3 innings.  

Wth the win Washington now has a record of 39-50.  With this loss, Boston-NL
has a 6-4 record of late, 60-41 overall.
