Chick Gandil had 2 base hits and 3 RBI as the Philadelphia-AL Athletics
defeated the New York-NL Giants by the score of 9 to 3 at Polo Grounds.

New York-NL found themselves trailing quickly as the Philadelphia-AL bats came
through in the first inning scoring 3 runs utilizing 3 base hits.  Morrie
Rath started the inning off right when he drew a walk.  Tris Speaker came to
the plate and lashed a single.  Gandil then hit a deep fly resulting in a
run.  Home Run Baker followed next and he tripled scoring another run.  Frank
Laporte came up to bat and delivered a single scoring the final run of the
inning.  Philadelphia-AL out-hit New York-NL for the game, 16 hits to 11.

The win went to Buck O'Brien(10-6) who allowed 1 run in 7 innings. Jack
Powell(6-10) suffered the loss.  He was knocked around by Philadelphia-AL,
allowing 14 hits and 2 walks in 7 innings.
