Ken Raffensberger had an impressive outing as the Washington Nationals pulled
out a win over the New York-AL Yankees by a score of 6 to 5 at Griffith
Stadium.

The game was won by Washington with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning.
After an out was recorded, Bobby Adams doubled.  Joe Dimaggio came to the
plate and stroked a base-hit making Washington the victors to the delight of
the home town faithful.  Washington had 12 hits overall, while New York-AL
had 8.  

Jim Konstanty(4-6) picked up the victory, allowing 4 runs in 2 innings. Sal
Maglie(4-10) was given the loss in relief.  He allowed 1 run and 2 hits in
1/3 of an inning.
