In a dramatic ending at Yankee Stadium the New York-AL Yankees won in their
last at-bat beating the Chicago-NL Cubs by the count of 7 to 4.

New York-AL scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 9th inning with 3
runs on 3 hits.  Smoky Burgess led off and got things going when he slapped a
single.  Richie Ashburn next to the plate and he slapped a one-base hit.
Ashburn then stole second base.  Minnie Minoso followed and he launched a
three-run homer making New York-AL victorious to the delight of the the home
town crowd.  New York-AL out-hit Chicago-NL for the game, 14 hits to 10.

The victory was credited to Jim McDonald(6-4) who went 3 innings, allowing 1
run. Jim Konstanty(2-7) was charged with the loss in relief.  He allowed 3
runs and 4 hits in 1 inning.
