In an great finish the Chicago-NL Cubs won in dramatic fashion over the
Pittsburgh Pirates by a score of 9 to 8 at Wrigely Field.

Chicago-NL had the winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning with 3 runs
on 2 base hits.  After an out was recorded, Duke Snider initiated the scoring
spurt when he drew a walk.  Andy Pafko next to the plate and he blasted a
two-run home run.  One out later, Eddie Mathews then hit a bases-empty home
run resulting in an exciting win for Chicago-NL and a wild post-game
celebration by the home town fans.  Chicago-NL banged out 8 hits on the
afternoon.  

The winning pitcher was Steve Ridzik(3-3) who allowed 3 runs in 1 inning. Hal
Newhouser(2-3) was tagged with the loss in relief.
