Larry McKeon completed the game without help from the bullpen as the
Cincinnati Red Stockings destroyed the Philadelphia Athletics by a score of
17 to 4 at League Park.

The Cincinnati fans enjoyed the offense provided by Pop Corkhill.  He banged
out a single in the 1st inning, belted a three-run homer in the 2nd inning
and ripped a base-knock resulting in a run in the 4th inning.  Cincinnati
bats were hot in the 3rd inning when they had 4 runs on 3 hits and the 4th
inning with 5 runs on 5 hits.  Cincinnati had many opportunities throughout
the game and scored in 6 separate innings.  

McKeon(7-7) got the victory, allowing 4 runs for the game. Ted Kennedy(4-11)
took the loss.  He was unable to control the Cincinnati offense and allowed
21 hits and 5 walks in 8 innings.
