5,453 fans were treated to a fine game at Bennett Park as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The Detroit Tigers won by the
slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.

The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings. Detroit came out on top in the
12th inning.  After two outs Johnny Evers drew a walk.  Evers swiped second
base.  Duffy Lewis then stroked a single resulting in an exciting win for
Detroit and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans.  Detroit had
8 hits for the afternoon.  

Charley Hall(4-6) allowed no runs in 3 innings, and picked up the victory. The
losing pitcher was Russ Ford(12-6).  He pitched 11 and 2/3 innings allowing 8
hits and 4 walks.
