Eddie Plank whitewashed Brooklyn on 4 hits as the Chicago-NL Cubs defeated the
Brooklyn Dodgers in 11 innings 3 to 0 at West Side Park.
The score was knotted at zero after nine innings. Chicago-NL won it in the
11th inning. After two outs Art Wilson began the Chicago-NL spurt when he
drew a walk. Rube Oldring followed and he drew a walk. Bobby Byrne then
rifled a three-run blast giving Chicago-NL the victory as 8,797 happy fans
celebrated wildly. Chicago-NL had a total of 7 hits for the game.
It was the 2nd shutout of the year for Plank(11-8). Harry McIntire(3-9) took
the loss. 'He came out with good stuff,' Lee Palmer said about Plank. 'He
threw the ball good from the first pitch on.'
