The Philadelphia-AL Athletics cruised to a 9 to 2 victory over the New York-NL
Giants at Shibe Park.
Philadelphia-AL took the lead for good in the 3rd inning plating 2 runs on 2
base hits. Al Bridwell started the inning off right when he ripped a
base-knock. After an out was recorded, Danny Murphy came to bat and drew a
walk. Frank Schulte then stroked a base-hit, and an error was also
committed, driving in a run. Home Run Baker was up next and he would ground
out scoring the final run of the inning. That early run support was enough
for King Cole(5-8) and Philadelphia-AL. Philadelphia-AL ended up with 14
hits for the game while New York-NL had 7.
Joe Lake(9-6) was given the loss. He allowed a few too many baserunners
giving up 14 hits and 2 walks in 7 innings.
