Brooklyn never recovered after New York took the lead in the 2nd inning scoring one runner. That early scoring held up. New York totaled 10 hits on the afternoon. Ames(6-5) went the distance for the shutout. Elmer Knetzer(5-4) was the loser. He got hammered, allowing 9 hits and 8 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings. 'Ames was the man today,' John McGraw said. 'He had just about every pitch working.'
