Red Ames had an impressive outing and Beals Becker smacked 2 triples as the
New York Giants topped the Brooklyn Superbas by a score of 6 to 0 at Polo
Grounds.

Brooklyn never recovered after New York took the lead in the 2nd inning
scoring one runner. That early scoring held up. New York totaled 10 hits on
the afternoon.

Ames(6-5) went the distance for the shutout. Elmer Knetzer(5-4) was the loser.
He got hammered, allowing 9 hits and 8 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.

'Ames was the man today,' John McGraw said. 'He had just about every pitch
working.'
