Right fielder Johnny Bates had 4 hits and 3 RBI and George Suggs was able to
finish what he started and was credited with a complete game as the
Cincinnati Reds defeated the Chicago Cubs in 11 innings by the score of 4 to
3 at West Side Grounds.

Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings.  Cincinnati came out
the victor in the 11th inning.  Earl Blackburn laced a base-knock.  After an
out was recorded, Bob Bescher came to the plate and doubled.  Bates then
ripped a single scoring the run.  Cincinnati totaled 17 hits on the
afternoon.  

Suggs(5-7) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 3 runs. Lefty
Leifield(1-1) was the loser in relief.  He allowed 1 run and 5 hits in 3 and
2/3 innings.
