Mike Garcia allowed Jim Murphy to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
and Hank Sauer lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 5 RBI as the
Cincinnati Reds were badly beaten by the Philadelphia-AL Athletics, 15 to
3.

The Philadelphia-AL fans enjoyed the offense provided by Sauer. He lofted a
three-run bomb in the 5th inning, lined a single in the 7th inning and
doubled scoring two baserunners in the 8th inning. Philadelphia-AL lit up
the scoreboard in the 1st inning tallying 4 runs and the 5th inning which saw
them score 5 runs on 4 hits. Philadelphia-AL banged out 20 hits on the
afternoon.

The win was credited to Garcia(11-5) who went the whole way allowing 3 runs.
Jim Hearn(6-4) was charged with the loss. He was touched for 6 hits and 3
walks in 2 innings.
