Catcher Yogi Berra cracked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Pittsburgh Pirates
bested the Washington Nationals 9 to 2 at Griffith Stadium.

Berra had a big day at the plate.  He ripped a one-base hit knocking in a run
in the 1st inning, smacked a single in the 3rd inning, bombed a two-run
dinger in the 5th inning and blasted a solo shot in the 6th inning.
Pittsburgh had 17 hits for the game and Washington had 9.  

Eddie Lopat(8-5) got credit for the victory, pitching 5 innings and allowing
no runs. Johnny Podres(0-2) was the loser.  He was knocked around by
Pittsburgh, allowing 12 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.  

Berra was jubilant after the game 'Let me see a box-score' he joked, 'I want
to see how that game looks on paper.'
