In a thrilling finish the New York-AL Yankees won in dramatic fashion coming
back to beat the Cleveland Indians by the count of 4 to 3.

New York-AL scored the decisive runs in a big 9th inning plating 2 runs.  Phil
Cavarretta led off and got things going when he was hit by a pitch.  Sid
Gordon came to the plate and popped a two-run clout over the fence resulting
in an exciting win for New York-AL and a raucous post-game celebration by the
home town fans.  New York-AL finished with 10 hits while Cleveland ended up
with 6.  

Dave Jolly(4-1) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. Hoyt Wilhelm(1-4)
was hit with the loss in relief.  He gave up 1 hit and no walks without
retiring a batter.
